Lamont Moreno was born and raised in Harlem, New York, and started his basketball coaching career in 1983. Lamont started out coaching in the local AAU, eventually taking many of his teams to national tournaments. In 1998 Lamont and his family moved to Orange County New York, where he coached the Orange County Crusaders; coaching kids and young adults from ages 8-17. In 2002, Lamont took a team of college athletes from Orange County, New York back to Harlem, entered a pro-am league, proceeded to win a pro-am championship, and was named Coach of the Year. Lamont then proceeded to coach high school basketball in Pine Bush, New York from 2002-2006.

In 2006, Lamont moved his family to South Florida, took a job with a local high school in Miramar and went on to win the 2007 District Championship. From Mirimar, Lamont moved into the professional ranks with the CBA’s Atlanta Krunk, serving as the lead assistant to former NBA great Kenny Anderson. Lamont still resides in South Florida with his wife of 20 years Vilma, their three children, and their four grandchildren. Along with the ownership of the Wildcats, Lamont owns a commodities fulfillment business in South Florida.
